With the recent attack and death of 4 year old John-Paul Massey, do you think there will be a change in the law on owning all dogs or do you think we will continue with the breed specific legislation (BSL) that we have at the moment.
I think that the BSL that we have doesn't work and never will. If you allow idiots to own dogs then they will cause death and injury regardless of what breed they own. If someone has a large breed dog i.e rottweiler or bull mastiffs and fails to train and discipline the dog then it will be just as capable of causing the same damage as a pitbull, even a jackrussel could kill a baby just as easily as a pitbull could kill a young child.
Shouldn't we be targeting the owners of all dogs and make it law to have your dog chipped, insured, trained and socialised. I would even bringing back the dog licence. You could also have all the information stored on the chip and the police could scan the chipp and check that you have the insurance and licence in place for the dog.
I would also target the breeders and make them have to pay for a licence to enable them to breed their dogs and be responsible for placing the dogs in suitable homes.
